Hello BYH Bloggers,
Have you ever fallen off the beaten path of your life’s goals and dreams? Have you ever just given up only to find that you’ve come to far to quit? Well, over the past week I’ve felt this way. I remember when I use to go skating at Umoja Roller Rink in Oakland, CA. I didn’t know how to skate, I was holding on to the rail in hopes that no one would knock me down. They were flying past me so quick that I almost fell simply from fear of being knocked down. I wanted to fall before I was knocked down just to get it out the way.
Have you ever felt that way? So scared that you gave up before you event tried something. I have and you have, I know how you feel. But week after week, I went to that skating rink with more experienced skaters whizzing by me anyway. They paid me no attention other than to move me out the way so I wouldn’t make them fall or get hurt. No one took my hand until I asked or I just hung on to my friends shirt or hand and let them pull me along LOL. Now that I think about it…it was hilarious, fun and daring being swung and pulled around the ring with no fear of danger because I had support. Then one day after putting one foot in front of the other long enough, I found that I had my rhythm. I was no longer holding on, but following along on beat crisscrossing and doing the splits! Then, I found others holding on to me and trying to follow my lead and we all had ONE rhythm, ONE heartbeat.
What I’ve found out along this journey is that even though I’ve gotten my rhythm, I’m still capable of falling and getting discouraged. That is why I am soliciting women of color to join with me in this journey. It is not something to be taken on single-handed. It takes support and feedback and I’m getting some, but I know that there are still more women who can join in and be a part of this M.E.T. Empowerment Success System and Women of Color Connection. When I fall off the beaten path I think about all of you and how we are to connect with one another and cause a fusion in the Universe that is “unprecedented†the East Bay.
